Tokyo’s Narita Airport has reopened part of its Terminal one building, which has gone through a US$15.7 million rejuvenation to allow more visitors to better experience the Japanese culture.

Located at level five, the new space features six areas which Narita Airport says, “enables customers to relax while feeling the atmosphere of Japan”.

Going past the entrance which features a massive bamboo-made ‘Ring of Sky’ structure, an expansive digital art zone featuring a moving bamboo grove evokes calm, before visitors reach the relaxation area filled with ample seating.

The largest space is the Shikisai Garden –Seasonal Colors, anchored by a ‘garden walk’ path, which comes with a stepped viewing platform for airplane viewing – sans the fence-blocked view of before. There are also footbaths for relaxing.

Families with children can also park the little ones at the playground, then head to the food court – which has been decked out in colours representing the four seasons.

The airport operator is also considering upgrading works to Terminal two.
