Indonesia is taking tougher measures to keep Mpox out of the country.
Tourists are being told they must download the government’s health monitoring smartphone app that was used during the Covid epidemic. This requires visitors to fill out an electronic self-declaration form.
It also provides guidance for International airport operators “to take measures to prevent and handle the transmission of Mpox disease at the airport”.
Confusingly, a government directive outlines “the need for airport and airline staff to supervise tourists by filling out the SATUSEHAT (Health Pass electronic self-declaration form) for every person (flight personnel and passengers) who travel abroad, which is done at the departure airport.”
This appears to place the onus on airlines to ensure passengers heading for Indonesia have completed the health self-declaration.
Indonesia is already using thermal imaging and passenger arrival forms to screen visitors.
The self-declaration form, available in English, can be found on the domain: https://sshp.kemkes.go.id.
“By declaring your health condition and travel history, you contribute to safer travel in Indonesia,” the website states.
