Cathay Pacific (CX) has unveiled a refreshed look and experience for its flagship lounge The Wing, First at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

Reopening to first-class cabin guests on 22 April, the premium lounge is located at the east side of Terminal 1 and has been in operations since HKIA’s launch in 1998.

Overall, the lounge continues to reflect familiar elements from the airline, while introducing new premium services and amenities.

Walnut wood has been mixed with the brand’s iconic green onyx to anchor the space, while all furniture and lighting have also been replaced.

The Wing, First is divided into six key areas.

At the heart is the atrium serving up breakfast, afternoon tea and evening meals, including lighter wellness‑led options. It is flanked by a pantry offering a self-serve selection of light and bite-sized delicacies.

A more formal dining experience can be found at the dining room. The à la carte table service features Asian and international fare, with rotating seasonal additions. Regional Chinese dishes created in partnership with award-winning Mott 32 at Marina Bay Sands Singapore are also on the menu.

The retreat, first introduced at The Pier, First – the other first-class lounge also at Terminal 1 – has been brought to The Wing, First as well. Here, a mix of handcrafted wood panels, bespoke furniture and ambient lighting evoke set the tranquil tone, where guests can recharge with a foot, neck or shoulder massage at one of the seven private booths.

Additionally, the shower suite has been updated with water and lighting technologies which allow toggling between cleanse, refresh or relax modes.

At the alcove, five multipurpose booths come equipped with a table and charging facilities for light dining, reading or catching up on emails.

For a deep dive into work, the bureau is a fully enclosed workspace, which can also be used for small meetings.

The reopening of the Wing, First follows last year’s reopening of business class lounge The Bridge, also in Hong Kong, as well as the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Beijing following extensive redesigns.

Next in line within the airline’s broader lounge enhancement push is CX/s first lounge in New York later in 2026. This follows CX’s shift to the new Terminal 6 building when it opens at the John F. Kennedy International Airport.

“Through our commitment of well over HK$100 billion (US$12.8 billion) in investments into our fleet, cabin and lounge products, and digital innovation, we will continue to elevate the journey at every touchpoint. These thoughtful, human-centric experiences define who we are at Cathay, advancing our vision of being our customers’ most loved service brand,” said Cathay Group CEO, Ronald Lam.
