Location and History

Opened in 1879, the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof has come a long, long way from its mid-19th-century origins, when the village parson built it to ease the poverty of the peasantry. It was the largest hotel in the village when it was built, and the citizens pitched in to help in its construction in an effort to avoid debt. In return, the citizens of Zermatterhof were granted access to use the hotel facilities in appreciation, and that benefit continues today.
