Gran Bahia del Duque was opened more than 30 years ago by a Tenerife family who had the idea to create a village-style resort at the beach. Since there was no beach at this region of southern Tenerife, the family imported massive amounts of golden sand from Morocco and created El Duque Beach, which is still one of the most beautiful beaches in southern Tenerife.
