Located 45 minutes south of Queenstown, this stunning American-owned property (a former Levi Strauss & Co. president bought the land in 1972 to build a lakeside residence) creates the feel of a late-19th-century Rocky Mountain lodge with high-beamed ceilings, handcrafted oak doors, slate floors and 25 roaring stone fireplaces.
