Location and History

Built in 1897 as the Grand Hotel Imperial during the days of the Austro-Hungarian Hapsburg Empire, this was Dubrovnik's first luxury hotel that provided indoor plumbing, hot water and an elevator. It stands on a slight hillside and has a long, important history in the city. It's Dubrovnik's counterpart to Zagreb's historic Esplanade Hotel.
