This resort-like hotel is situated on the high banks of Parana River, on the edge of downtown. It's in a rather isolated spot, with not much else nearby, making it quite tranquil and relaxing. Across the river is Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.

The original buildings were constructed by the government in the 1950s, originally as a hospital, but then soon converted into a hotel, which the government ran until the 1970s.
