Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) is turning to gamification to encourage incentive agents to pick up product knowledge and destination updates in a fun and interactive.
Incentive agents can access the platform easily through a mobile app, which will take them through a learning journey spanning four modules. Each module is launched weekly and covers 25 questions.
Topics include 'Incentive Activities and Attractions’, ‘Unique Venues’, ‘New Zealand Trivia’, and a ‘People’ section which puts faces to the team behind TNZ. Links will also be provided for agents who wish to seek additional information for independent itinerary planning.
"Agents have been overloaded with scheduled webinars and online lecture-style training. It is not easy for incentive planners to retain and recall a fairly large amount of product information, especially through webinars, and so we want to turn the entire experience around with elements of gamification that will add a spark of fun," said Steven Dixon, regional trade marketing manager, Asia for TNZ.
“Along the way, we also want to take this opportunity to reward and acknowledge our agents for taking the time and effort to continuously keep up-to-date on New Zealand offerings. We hope that, through this new platform, we continue to motivate agents, build communities, and ultimately enhance the brand experience.”
TNZ is offering a slew of prizes to encourage participation on the new app-based learning platform.
Agents who complete the training with a score above 75% will receive an exclusive Certificate of Completion, and the first 500 to do so will receive an additional branded gift.
Furthermore, the top 10 scorers will also receive personalised team training sessions with TNZ's business events manager for Southeast Asia, priority destination updates, as well as priority invitations for familiarisation trips and in-market events.
In addition, the best-performing agent will receive a hamper of New Zealand confectionaries.
The competition for the above prizes will start on 6 January 2021 and conclude on 7 February 2021 at 2359hrs. Incentive agents will need to first register online, before receiving steps on downloading the game app.
Launching first in Singapore and subsequently in Indonesia and Malaysia, the platform is developed in partnership with TLC Events and MICE Neurol, with content provided by Tourism New Zealand.
The initiative follows an earlier campaign launched in August 2020 to keep New Zealand fresh and top of mind at a time when international travel is not possible.
