Initially scheduled for deployment in Singapore from October 2022,
Royal Caribbean International’s (RCI) Spectrum of the Seas is arriving
to the Lion City’s shores in April instead, six months sooner than
anticipated.
The arrival of Spectrum of the Seas is a timely move as its sister
ship, Quantum of the Seas, which has been homeported in Singapore since
December 2020, is expected to end its season in the same month.
The first Spectrum of the Seas sailing in Singapore will kick off on 11 April, with 3- and 4-night ocean getaways.
The ship's deployment will also mark the comeback of destination
cruising in Southeast Asia. Starting from 21 October, cruisers departing
from Singapore can look forward to 3- to 9-night sailings with
ports-of-call at Penang, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha
Thrang and/or Bangkok.

“We know that vacation time is precious and choosing how to spend it
is more important than ever, which is why we are thrilled to welcome
Spectrum of the Seas – one of the most advanced ships in the world, to
Singapore in April – making Singapore the cruising destination of
choice,” said Angie Stephen, vice president and managing director, Asia
Pacific, RCI.
In the same vein, Kenneth Yeo, regional director of sales, Asia
Pacific, RCI, spoke of Asia Pacific being the choice region of
“tremendous opportunity for the growth of the cruise industry”.
“The
last year provided many Singapore residents the opportunity to try
cruising for the first time, and from what we can see, they are hooked,”
he said.

Since its cruise restart in Singapore, Royal Caribbean has seen a
high demand for its sailings and hosted over 178,000 cruisers. Stephen
attributes the success of Royal Caribbean’s safe sailings in the country
to the Singapore government “for their strong partnership and
collaboration that have allowed cruising to become one of the safest
holiday options in the world.”
Designed
especially for Asian cruisers, Spectrum of the Seas offers the perfect
combination of state-of-the-art high-tech experiences that provide
adrenaline junkies and adventure-seeking guests a wealth of thrilling
onboard experiences.
Some of Spectrum of the Seas’ most notable features include the Sky
Pad — a virtual reality, bungee trampoline adventure; and the Ultimate
Family Suite — a two-storey ‘home-at-sea’ that will delight families or
groups with its ensuite slide, and a cinema that also doubles up as a
karaoke stage.

Other features that cruisers can look forward to comprise the North
Star, an all-glass observation capsule that ascends 90m above the ocean;
SeaPlex, an active entertainment centre with bumper cars, laser tag,
fencing and archery; and 19 dining options from Hot Pot to Jamie’s
Italian.
“As we navigate COVID-19 as an endemic, we are confident that
holidaymakers around the region will see cruising as an unbeatable
adventure-packed holiday option,” Yeo said.
Bookings
