Viking has unveiled a new roster of river voyage excursions, small-group experiences, alongside expanded options for land extensions across Europe.
“Europe remains a favourite destination for our guests – particularly those interested in experiencing a river voyage for the first time,” said Torstein Hagen, executive chairman of Viking.
The new additions are available on Viking’s Rhine, Danube, Seine and Elbe River itineraries, offering fresh ways to engage guests at destinations.
For instance, the Zeppelin Flight Over the Ruhr Valley excursion on the airship takes guests up 300 metres overlooking the Ruhr Valley as well as the Zeche Zollverein – a UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the “Eiffel Tower of the Ruhr”. The same airship experience is available over Cologne’s iconic monuments.
With food increasingly becoming an experiential way to discover a destination, Viking has also added a slew of epicurean-related experiences.
These include dining at Austria’s Wachau Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; at Alte Klosterkeller, a former monastery cellar in the historic town of Dürnstein; a stop at Belgrade’s largest open-air market; or a local winery tour to discover Slovakian wine at Little Carpathians.
Guests travelling during the Christmas season can consider Flavors of Berlin, which packs in a major sampling of tastes in Germany’s capital city.
Starting 2026, new small group experiences have also been introduced for select European river itineraries. Stops include France’s The Palace of Versailles, Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace, the Czech Republic’s fairy-tale town of Český Krumlov, the Alsatian village of Colmar, as well as Slovakia’s capital Bratislava.
Viking also announced new fully guided land extensions beginning in 2026 and 2027, which can be added before or after river voyage itineraries to offer guests deeper immersion in Italy, France, Croatia, Slovenia, Belgium and the Netherlands.
