Scenic Group has partnered with Assam Bengal Navigation (ABN) to expand its India river-cruise programme to the Brahmaputra. The group plans to have two ultra-luxury Scenic river ships operating in India by 2029–30.

The long-term agreement pairs Scenic’s international cruise operations and distribution with ABN’s more than 20 years of experience running cruises on the Brahmaputra and Ganges.

Scenic said the new programme would take guests through landscapes, wildlife areas and riverside communities distinct from those on its planned Hooghly River itineraries in West Bengal.

The expansion follows Scenic’s plans to begin Hooghly River sailings aboard the 44-guest Scenic Aura in October 2027. Its inaugural 2027–28 programme combines a 10-night cruise through West Bengal with land journeys across India and Sri Lanka.

“Scenic Aura is the first step in what we expect will be a long-term commitment to India,” said Scenic Group founder and chairman Glen Moroney.

Travel advisors can enquire about remaining availability for Scenic Aura and pre-register clients for updates and priority booking information on the future Brahmaputra programme.

Scenic has not yet announced the Brahmaputra itineraries or departure dates.
