The 2024 Cruise Industry News Annual Report indicates a substantial increase in cruise capacity for the Asia Pacific region this year. After several years of reduced activity due to the pandemic, capacity is expected to rise by 89 percent.

This growth is primarily driven by Adora Cruises, Resorts World Cruises, and other international brands. MSC Cruises, which resumed operations in the region in 2023, is poised to become a major player in 2024. The company has relaunched its China-based programme with the MSC Bellissima and plans to add the MSC Splendida to its Asia lineup in November.

Adora Cruises, now a regional leader, will see the first full year of service for its new ship, Adora Magic City, which began operations in January from Shanghai. The company also operates the Mediterranea year-round from China.

Cruise Industry News' research suggests that nearly 90 cruise ships will operate in the Asia Pacific region in 2024, a 40% increase from 2023. Other key brands in the region include Royal Caribbean International, Costa Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Princess Cruises.

Regional players such as Tianjin Orient, Blue Dream Cruises, Viking Cruises China Merchants, Asuka Cruises, and Mitsui Ocean Cruises will also contribute to the market. The diverse lineup extends to expedition brands, including Captain Cook Cruises Fiji, Heritage Expeditions, and Coral Expeditions.
