China's first domestically-built cruise liner, the Adora Magic City,
wrapped up its debut commercial voyage on 7 January after setting sail
on a seven-day adventure with over 3,000 passengers. The ship returned
to Shanghai's Wusongkou International Cruise Terminal after a 1,119
nautical mile expedition.
Setting sail on 1 January,
the Adora Magic City traversed to South Korea's picturesque Jeju Island
and Japan's vibrant cities of Nagasaki and Fukuoka before concluding
its journey at the Wusongkou terminal. The maiden voyage not only
showcased the vessel's capabilities but also offered guests a unique
blend of cultural experiences and entertainment.
During the sailing, passengers were treated to enlightening lectures
by experts from the Dunhuang Academy, featuring the renowned murals of
the Mogao Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Gansu Province.
Measuring 323.6 meters in length and weighing 135,500 tonnes, the
Adora Magic City boasts 2,125 guest rooms across its 16 decks, offering extensive public space spanning 40,000 square metres for leisure and recreation.

Tailored for the Chinese market, the cruise ship's offerings span
from authentic Chinese and international cuisine to entertaining shows
and diverse shopping experiences, merging Eastern and Western cultures.
Partnering with China Duty Free Group, the ship boasts the largest
duty-free retail space at sea, covering approximately 2,000 square
metres. Additionally, it hosts thrilling facilities for children and
teens, including a water park, a sea-view rope garden, and a
state-of-the-art VR game center.
Moreover, the Adora Magic City stands distinguished as the first
cruise ship to house a live comedy theatre at sea, a collaboration with
Mahua FunAge, a prominent Chinese comedy production firm. The vessel
also houses an onboard art gallery displaying classic murals from the
Dunhuang Grottoes, partnering with Dunhuang Academy.
The vessel's future plans include voyages to Southeast Asian
countries, offering an array of short to long-haul options, and
introducing the Maritime Silk Road route.
