TWA: Will a customer (say TMC or OTA) be able to create their own UX solution on top of the new Travelport+ microservice layer?

Travelport+: Absolutely. Our new JSON/RESTful APIs create the kind of developer experience that agencies need to build great digital experiences and retail travel effectively — so customers can either use our user agent interface, or create their own — agent or consumer experience. We’ll provide the logic and intelligence to make sure that regardless of the front-end, behind it is an intelligent storefront that optimises the right offer at the right time for the right traveller. Regardless of what niche the agency is trying to address, we’re giving them the tools that help them maximise their opportunity for their market.

TWA: Will Travelport create an open API for a supplier to connect without a large integration and approval process?

Travelport+: Travel offers are getting more dynamic and diverse, and there are also many more ways for our travel suppliers to give us their content than used to exist before — whether true legacy connections or modern retailing APIs. We’re looking to simplify travel, so rather than create yet another API for suppliers to connect to, we’ll instead work with them to take in their content using a channel that works for them — be it ATPCO or NDC, HTNG or a proprietary API, and many more. We’ll then normalise that content and deliver dynamic and personalised offers, the way suppliers want, to our travel agencies customers around the world.

TWA: Will TP+ include profile and CRM capabilities, and if so are they new or based on the old profile capabilities?

Travelport+: Almost all of our large agency customers already use their own profile and CRM capabilities, and Travelport+ fully supports that. That said, ensuring there’s a clean and scalable migration path for agencies that rely on GDS profile capability today is an area of ongoing research. We also want to work with industry initiatives such as IATA's One ID which have the potential to change the way agencies, suppliers and travellers treat identity and profile information.

TWA: Will a supplier pay Travelport for distribution or will Travelport make money from the customers using TP+?

Travelport+: Commercial agreements are individual to our customers and not something we comment on publicly.
