Travel technology provider Sabre Corporation has concluded its sold-out Sabre Technology Exchange (STX) event in Singapore, having secured partnerships with leading airline and agency companies.
The three-day event attracted 688 attendees from global agencies, corporations, airlines and hoteliers across 44 countries at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
The event also saw the inking of a partnership with China Eastern Airlines to develop the airline’s next generation Airline Operation Centre and long-term agreement with travel management company Carlson Wagonlit.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Sabre President and CEO Sean Menke pointed to the scale of the travel industry in which some US$1.6 trillion in global transactions were made in 2017, while the larger travel and tourism marketplace combined generated US$7.6 trillion in direct and indirect spend.
One area that the company is making progress towards is the industry-wide NDC (New Distribution Capability) programme. “Up until this time last year, Sabre was essentially opposed to NDC. The reason that we’re all in is because the industry is trying to evolve to drive more revenue,” said Menke.
Sabre said travel industry partners American Airlines, American Express Global Business Travel, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Flight Centre Travel Group had joined the launch of its Beyond NDC programme. The programme covers the development, integration and testing of end-to-end capabilities to process NDC-enabled offers and orders.
The event, held from was August 28-30, is the third and final leg of its STX series this year following events in London and Dallas. Next year, the global edition of STX will be held in Las Vegas from June 24-27.
