Mario Zanetti has been promoted from chief commercial officer to president at Costa Cruises, assuming a role that was temporarily filled by Michael Thamm, group CEO of Costa Group and Carnival Asia.

In his new role, Zanetti will oversee Costa Cruises across the world, including Asia, with the aim of growing the brand.

A long-time Costa veteran, Zanetti joined the company in 1999 and became the president of Costa Asia in 2017. Since July 2020, he has been based in Genoa as chief commercial officer of Costa Cruises Europe.

Meanwhile, Roberto Alberti, SVP & chief strategy officer of Costa Group, will support Zanetti and step up in his new role as chief commercial officer of Costa Cruises.

“The pause in our ship operations has been an opportunity to work on enhancing the Costa organisation to make our company stronger, ready for the restart with renewed energy, a clear commercial strategy and a greater customer-centric approach," said Thamm.
