KUALA LUMPUR - Puteri Pan Pacific Johor Bahru, which will end its management contract with Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts on 1 January 2006, will merge with the Johor Persada International Convention Centre. Puteri Pan Pacific Johor Bahru, which will be renamed Puteri Pacific Johor Bahru, and the convention centre will then come under the management of Puteri Hotels Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Johor Corporation group. According to Johor Corporation CEO, Tan Sri Muhammad Ali Hashim, the merger will enable both entities to be operated professionally and smoothly as well as create more business synergy between them. The RM50-million (US$13.16 million) Persada Johor International Convention will be the first such facility for Johor and South Malaysia when it is completed in July 2006. It will comprise a convention centre and an exhibition hall. It will also be equipped with full catering facilities on-site. A bridge will link the centre to Puteri Pan Pacific Hotel, providing direct and access to the hotel’s five-star facilities.
