12 July 2001HONOLULU - Mandara Spa has entered into an agreement
with Steiner Leisure, one of the world's largest cruise
ship spa operator.
Under the agreement, Steiner will acquire a 60 percent
controlling interest in Mandara Spa LLC and Mandara Spa
Asia Ltd.
The transaction is expected to close soon. Shiseido will
retain the 40 percent interest in Mandara Spa it acquired
in May, 2000.
In addition to the Mandara Spa brand, Steiner also
controls The Greenhouse Spa; Elemis Spa; and Steiner Spas,
with over 100 cruise ship spas.
As part of the transaction, Mandara Spa's management and
executive team will remain in their current roles. This
includes Mandara Spa Asia's directors - Mark Edleson as
president and CEO, and Jeff Matthews as regional managing
director and COO.
