Marriott has announced its first brand dedicated to luxury wellness, following a joint venture announcement with Italian hospitality brand, Lefay.
The global hotel chain noted that the new luxury brand would appeal to a rapidly growing global audience seeking “transformative travel experiences focused on health and longevity”.
Founded in Italy in 2006 by Domenico Alcide and Liliana Leali, Lefay currently operates two luxury wellness eco-resorts in Italy: one at Lake Garda and the other at the Dolomites.
Three additional properties are in the pipeline for Tuscany, Southern Italy, and the Swiss Alps.
Each property is designed as an eco‑resort, featuring expansive indoor‑outdoor spaces and sustainable materials.
The brand is anchored by its proprietary Lefay Spa Method – which blends scientific research with holistic wellness traditions. Guests may book individual treatments or multiday wellness programmes that integrate movement, nutrition, and preventative health.
"Lefay represents a new expression of luxury, one that is wellness‑first, deeply experiential, and emotionally resonant," said Tina Edmundson, president of luxury, Marriott International.
Under this new deal with Marriott, Lefay’s existing and upcoming projects will operate under long-term hotel management agreements. The Leali family will retain the ownership of Lefay’s Italian real estate assets.
