Paradox Hotels & Resorts will enter the Australian market on 1 July 2025 with the rebranding of Sydney’s Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel to Paradox Sydney.

The heritage-listed property at 27 O’Connell Street has been owned by TA Global since 1997 and will be the brand’s first Australian outpost. Paradox Sydney joins the group’s global portfolio of hotels across Canada, Singapore, China, Thailand, and now Australia.

The sandstone building, originally built in 1856, has previously housed John Fairfax & Sons, the Bank of New South Wales, and later WestPac Bank. It began its hospitality chapter as Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in 2000 and underwent a AU$13.5 million refurbishment in 2015.

The property currently comprises 364 rooms and suites, meeting facilities, a wellness centre, and food and beverage offerings.

Paradox Sydney will undergo a phased refresh to align with the brand’s identity, while remaining fully operational during the transition.

“Paradox is about creating places with soul – hotels that are deeply connected to the people, culture and pulse of the city,” said Tiah Joo Kim, CEO of TA Global and Paradox’s founder. “To debut in Australia at such a historic and meaningful heritage address is a major milestone for us.”

General manager Peter Tudehope added: “Today, as Paradox takes the helm, we are excited to write the next vibrant chapter that celebrates its heritage while forging a fresh and inspiring future.”
