Banyan Tree has opened its latest resort in China, nestled
at the foot of Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set in the misty
landscape of Anhui Province, the view has inspired generations of artists,
poets and even filmmakers, with some claiming it to be the inspiration behind
the floating mountains in the movie Avatar.
Situated 70 minutes from Huangshan city, this is Banyan
Tree’s 10th property in China, a ‘sanctuary for the senses’. The resort embodies Hui-style architecture, one of the major Chinese architectural
styles of ancient times seen in traditional ink paintings, and which still dot
the landscape.
While the
resort is built with a distinctly local touch, it also comes equipped with
state-of-the-art facilities including culturally-themed spa villas and meeting
rooms for groups from 10 to 56 people.
