Aloft Hotels, part of Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of more than 30 brands, has opened its first property in Surabaya. The 233-room Aloft Surabaya Pakuwon City is also the brand’s fifth hotel in Indonesia.
Located next to Pakuwon City Mall in East Surabaya, the property is minutes from business parks and lifestyle destinations. Nearby attractions include Park Shanghai – a neon-lit culinary street inspired by old Shanghai alleyways – Pantai Kenjeran, and the Suramadu Bridge.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the Aloft brand to Surabaya – Indonesia’s second largest city known for its entrepreneurial spirit, thriving creative scene, and youthful energy,” said Ramesh Jackson, regional vice president, Indonesia & Malaysia, Marriott International.
Guest rooms feature loft-inspired designs, high ceilings, and views of landmarks such as Suramadu Bridge and Pagoda Tian Ti. Rooms are equipped with 55-inch Smart TVs, high-speed Wi-Fi, and plug-and-play connectivity. Each room also features a mural by Surabaya-based artist Peter Rhian Gunawan (Redmiller Blood), showcasing characters inspired by the shark and crocodile from local folklore.
The hotel offers 1,065 square metres of meeting and event space, including a 489-square-metre ballroom for up to 300 guests. Dining options include Vibe Restaurant, which serves Asian dishes, and the W XYZ Bar offering cocktails such as the Suramadu Sling and Kenjeran Breeze. The property also features East Surabaya’s highest rooftop lounge, Echo Lounge, alongside a 24-hour fitness centre and a rooftop pool.
“At Aloft Surabaya Pakuwon City, we’re bringing something fresh to the city – a space that’s vibrant, social, and full of personality,” said Reza Aryawarman, multi-property general manager.
