One tourism official from China's Sichuan province has received much fanfare lately for his dashing good looks, which has been likened to Hong Kong movie star Chow Yun Fat and Chinese-American singer Fei Xiang.
Liu Hong is the director of culture and tourism bureau at Sichuan's Garzê Tibetan autonomous prefecture. The 49-year-old was singled out while promoting tourism in Guangdong this March alongside 'tourism ambassador' Zhaxi Dingzhen, a 20-year-old Tibetan herdsman who coincidentally became a national heartthrob after fans fell in love with his dreamy looks.
Liu, who's ethnic Tibetan but born and raised in Sichuan, insists his looks are just typical in his hometown.
"I told them I was the director of the culture and tourism bureau, so they said 'how could an official look so handsome?" said Liu, who was encircled in crowds, warm greetings and even flowers from fans, according to Chinese magazine Sixth Tone.
Moreover, the accidental Internet sensation has said that if his face could attract more to the region, he would be happy to assume this newfound 'role'. He has also since opened an official account on short-video app TikTok.
