Fancy heading to the airport and returning with a hula hoop? Or a pair of boxing gloves? Maybe an air fryer?
These are some of the more unusual goods left behind at Sydney Airport to be auctioned this week in a sale of 2,300 lost property items.
Since 2013, Sydney Airport’s Lost Property Auctions have raised almost A$2.2 million (US$1.52 million) for charities and community initiatives. Proceeds of this sale will deliver swimming and water safety education across Sydney’s culturally diverse communities.
Items going under the hammer include 60 bottles of alcohol, ski boots, 40 e-readers and a Batman Lego set.
Theodore Bruce Auctioneers director, Casi Prischl, said, "This year we have a brilliant mix of high-quality tech, gorgeous jewellery and watches, sunglasses, bags and perfume. With 120 laptops, 350 lots of jewellery and 150 pairs of sunglasses up for grabs, there is something for everyone.”
Last year Sydney Airport returned more than 6,000 items left behind by passengers. Items being sold this week are those whose owners could not be found.
