Families looking for an educational and fun day out with their kids can now visit the newly opened ArtScience Laboratory at the ArtScience Museum. Officially launched on the museum’s 14th anniversary, this interactive space is designed to inspire creativity and curiosity in children and teens.
Located on Basement 2 of the ArtScience Museum, the ArtScience Laboratory offers a range of engaging workshops and hands-on experiences that combine the principles of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM). The space encourages children to experiment and explore in a fun and inspiring environment, blending advanced digital technologies with practical activities.
The laboratory is divided into three zones:
The Launch Pad: A starting point for interdisciplinary activities that merge art and science.
The Media Lab: Features a 13-metre projection wall for digital learning experiences.
The Ripple Room: A calm environment for in-depth workshops and hands-on learning.
Cubebot, a twist on the classic wooden puzzle toy, adds to the playful and educational atmosphere by allowing kids to shape it into different poses or use it as seating.
The laboratory offers five themed programme strands:
Inspired By: Activities inspired by art-scientists blending art and science.
Scientific Sparks: Hands-on science activities, including building models of subatomic particles.
Creative Constructs: Creative activities like making eco-friendly bags from recycled materials.
Environmental Empathy: Activities focused on sustainability and the environment.
The Art of Being Calm: Mindfulness and well-being activities, such as journaling and relaxing with Cubebot.
The ArtScience Laboratory is open daily, offering free walk-in workshops. For a full list of activities, visit the ArtScience Museum’s website.
