Windstar Cruises has launched a 2028/2029 Asia season aboard the 112-suite Star Seeker, covering popular stops including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore.

The small ship cruise operator cited strong demand in the region for small-ship exploration and immersive cultural discovery, with bookings for 2027 Asia voyages nearly double ahead of the same time last year.

"We're seeing extraordinary enthusiasm for Asia, with bookings significantly outpacing previous years," says Janet Bava, chief commercial officer at Windstar Cruises.

“With Star Seeker, we're able to dock closer to the cultural centers of cities like Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, visit smaller ports throughout the region, and create connections to local culture that simply aren't possible on larger ships."

On board, nearly all suites come with a private veranda or infinity window. Guests can expect locally inspired cuisine and destination-driven dining while sailing, then further explore the region’s flavors through guided food tours and market visits, from Singapore’s famous hawker centers to Thailand’s floating markets.

Off the ship, curated shoreside experiences – named Destination Discovery Events – open the door to exclusive moments. For instance, the Japan stop explores the historic port town of Tomonoura through tea ceremonies, live koto music, Edo-period streets and entry to the historic Ota Family Residence.

Featured itineraries include:

  • 10-nights Grand Japan to iconic cities and smaller ports including Karatsu

  • 10-nights Vietnam & Cambodia including overland experiences like Angkor Wat

  • 10-nights East Asian Legends spanning stops in Taipei, Okinawa, Amami and Ishigaki

  • 11-nights Thailand and Singapore between Bangkok and Phuket, and an overnight stay in Singapore

  • 18-nights Chiang Mai & Angkor Wat

  • 41-nights Grand Asia Explorer covering Phuket to Tokyo, with overnight stays in four major cities, plus cruising along the Saigon and Chao Phraya rivers

Longer itineraries are also possible with extended cruise tours at destinations including Hanoi, Chiang Mai, Kyoto and Angkor Wat.
