The Escape brand of theme parks under Sim Leisure Group will open its largest playground in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands, with phase one slated for a 2023 opening.
Escape Cameron Highlands will be built into Malaysia's popular hill resort area, as part of the brand's eco-mission of hosting attractions in their natural environment as far as possible.
Included in phase one is the world's first artificial ski slope in an equatorial setting, developed at an elevation of 220m. Five European villages across various elevations will be progressively added, supported by an ecosystem of themed accommodation, F&B and related traditional activities.
Over the next ten years until completion, the project is expected to exceed RM100 million (US$24 million).
The park expects to welcome 200,000 visitors in the first year, and a million visitors annually after the five-year mark.
The Cameron theme park will be the group's third Escape attraction in Malaysia, after Escape Penang and Escape Challenge in Petaling Jaya.
Sim Leisure Group also serves as external contractors for the likes of Dubai Parks and Resorts, Resorts World Sentosa, Legoland and more. It recently acquired KidZania Kuala Lumpur, owned by Khazanah Nasional Bhd, in March this year.
