Tourists planning to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower when
visiting Paris will need to budget more starting 17 June 2024. Ticket
prices for the famous landmark are increasing just before the Paris 2024
Olympic Games begin in July.
The cost for an adult to take the elevator all the way to the top
will jump from €29.40 (US$31.89) to €35.30 (US$38.28). Tickets for the
elevator to the second floor observation deck are rising from €18.80
(US$20.39) to €22.60 (US$24.51). Even the cheapest stair access ticket
is seeing a hike from €11.80 (US$12.80) to €14.20 (US$15.40).
According to BFMTV, the increase in ticket prices is due to the lack
of visitors from 2020 to 2022. The Eiffel Tower typically welcomes
nearly 7 million visitors annually but saw only 1.5 million in 2020 due
to the pandemic, resulting in €113 million in lost revenue over two
years.
Children under four will still be able to visit the Eiffel Tower free of charge, providing some financial relief for families.
The iconic tower is not alone in raising prices ahead of the Olympics
influx. From 15 January 2024, the Louvre has hiked its admission for
the first time from €17 to €22, the museum's first price increase since
2017.
