Low-cost carrier Scoot has launched a new direct air service between Singapore and Chiang Rai, strengthening international access to northern Thailand.
Launched on 1 January 2026, the new route marks the first direct air link between Singapore and Chiang Rai. Scoot will operate five flights weekly using Embraer E190-E2 aircraft, each with 112 seats.
Services operate on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays with afternoon departures from Singapore, while Tuesdays and Saturdays feature early-morning departures.
The route is viewed as a strategic addition to Northern Thailand’s air connectivity. While Chiang Mai has long served as the region’s primary international gateway, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) sees Chiang Rai as a complementary destination with distinct cultural, heritage and nature-based appeal.
Scoot’s expansion into Chiang Rai brings the airline’s Thailand network to seven destinations.
TAT’s Singapore office is working with Scoot on joint marketing initiatives and targeted trade and media engagement to raise Chiang Rai’s destination profile.
