Qantas is doubling flights on its popular Singapore-Sydney routes from end 2026 using A380 planes.
Qantas had recently brought back its tenth and final A380 back to Sydney in December last year, following some six years in storage.
Cam Wallace, Qantas International’s CEO had noted the move meant “we can offer even more seats on popular long-haul routes to destinations like Dallas, Singapore and Johannesburg”.
Starting December, there will be a total of 13 A380 weekly flights on the Singapore-Sydney route, up from the current seven. This will mean an increased capacity jump of 37% in business class and 86% for first class seats.
As the largest passenger aircraft in the world, the Qantas A380 aircraft features 14 first, 70 business, 60 premium economy and 341 Economy seats.
A380s will also be used for the seven departures from Singapore to London Heathrow, bringing Qantas' total A380 departures from Changi Airport to 20 weekly.
Qantas has progressively brought its A380 fleet back into service over the last few years. Each aircraft has undergone extensive engineering checks along with a full cabin refurbishment, including a refurbished first cabin and upper deck lounge, and more premium seats in business and premium economy.
