When you’re constantly travelling for work, sometimes all you want is some familiar comforts on board the plane.
SilkAir, the full-service regional wing of Singapore Airlines, knows this, that’s why it has launched the ‘All-Time Favourites’ menu, offering Business Class passengers a curated selection of 20 dishes when travelling on flights leaving from Singapore that are three hours and above.
The menu spans across Oriental, Western, Muslim and Indian cuisines, with familiar favourites such as Hokkien Mee, Sliced Fish Congee, Tandoori Chicken, Grilled Beef Tenderloin and the most popular – Mee Rebus. These will be available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Passengers can book their favourite meals up to 24 hours in advance via the respective SilkAir or Singapore Airlines websites, or through travel agents and the airlines’ reservations offices.
During the official launch yesterday, which took place at the SATS Inflight Catering Centre 2 and included a sampling and kitchen tour for the media present, SilkAir chief executive Foo Chai Woo said that it took over six months of preparation and tasting of more than 100 dishes before they finally narrowed down the selection to the final 20.
“The dishes we have curated for the All-Time Favourites menu is a reflection of SilkAir’s multi-cultural Singaporean heritage and also pays tribute to the 49 diverse destinations that we fly to… we hope that this added convenience will truly make it a joy to fly with us,” said Foo.
At the same time, he shared that SilkAir will be launching its Laos route to Vientiane and Luang Prabang on October 31, 2016, and that the Boeing B737 Max 8 – a single-aisle aircraft that can operate longer beyond six hours will enter into service in Q4 2017.
