Tanjung Pandan is the largest town on the island of Belitung, off the east coast of Sumatra, and is one of the top ten destinations beyond Bali that is being promoted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.

Indonesia flag carrier Garuda Indonesia will service a new Singapore – Tanjung Pandan route, starting October 29, with an all-economy class configured, Bombardier CRJ – 1000.

The carrier expects the route will be popular with Singaporeans looking for a short getaway to a new destination.

Tanjung Pandan is the largest town on the island of Belitung, off the east coast of Sumatra, and is one of the top ten destinations beyond Bali that is being promoted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.

“Because of its exotic beaches similar to those in the Maldives, it is expected to become the second Bali,” said Wayan Subagia, vice president Asia region of Garuda Indonesia.

Subagia said the new route supports Garuda Indonesia’s strategy to strengthen its connectivity in South-east Asia.

“Singapore is considered an international transportation hub, as well as the tourism hub for Indonesia. Less than an hour’s direct flight from Singapore, Belitung is the perfect getaway destination,” he said.

The Singapore-Tanjung Pandan service will operate four times a week.
