Charlie Puth had been spotted by eagle-eyed fans casually strolling
around Singapore’s popular attractions and shopping malls like Marina
Bay Sands last week. Some have hazarded a guess that his appearance in
Singapore was to promote his latest album, but the Singapore Tourism
Board (STB) has revealed that the global pop sensation’s presence will
be so much more than that.
STB has partnered with the Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and
producer for the launch of a video that showcases Singapore through
Charlie Puth’s eyes. The video, which will be released in October this
year, features Charlie Puth’s travels around the city, as part of the
SingapoReimagine campaign.
According
to STB, “Charlie will reimagine Singapore up-close and personal through
his musical lens as he converses and shares his experiences, while
exploring the different sights and sounds, from iconic spots to hidden
gems.”
During Charlie Puth’s one-week trip in Singapore, his adventures
included Here Is SG, an interactive space and photographic spot at
Marina Bay waterfront promenade, along with the iconic Long Bar at
Raffles Hotel, home to the national cocktail Singapore Sling.
Charlie Puth also ventured into the hidden gems of Singapore such as
The Projector, an old movie theatre turned independent creative
platform; Joo Chiat, a historic neighbourhood lined with colourful
heritage shophouses; and Offtrack, a concept bar for music and culture
enthusiasts.
That trip then culminated in a VIP showcase at Raffles Hotel
Singapore where Charlie Puth serenaded invited guests comprising members
of the media, fellow artistes from the local music scene and travel and
hospitality players, with popular songs such as Light Switch; How Long;
Attention; We Don't Talk Anymore; and See You Again.
“This is my third time in Singapore, and each time there’s something
new to learn and discover. But this visit is extra special, because I’m
using the details of everyday life in this city to tell a story through
music,” Charlie Puth shared. “Singapore is full of colours and unique
sounds at every turn. That’s what makes it so fascinating, and that’s
what inspires me when I make music.”
Charlie Puth additionally revealed that being in Singapore had inspired him to start working on a new album.
“The sights and sounds of our city is a great match with Charlie’s
passion and creativity,” Choo Huei Miin, director, brand, STB. “We were
thrilled that Charlie chose Singapore as the only destination in Asia
for his album promo, giving us the opportunity to work with Warner Music
to showcase our diverse offerings through his talent. As international
travel recovers, such creative collaborations help us reach a global
audience and position Singapore as a must-visit destination that offers
unlimited possibilities.”
Stay tuned to this space for the debut of Charlie Puth’s video in Singapore.
