Prague has been tapped to host the 56th Congress of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) November 12 to 15.
ICCA, which comprises more than 1,000 member companies and organisations in over 90 countries, specialises in the international association meetings sector, particularly in organising, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events.
"Based on our estimates, around 1,200 event planners and association representatives could attend the Congress in Prague, which would be a record number in the whole ICCA Congress history," said Roman Muska, managing director of the Prague Convention Bureau.
Muska attributed an increasing awareness among industry professionals about meetings and incentive travel opportunities in Prague, and the Czech Republic in general, for the projected strong turnout.
He also credited a year-long marketing campaign launched by the ICCA called "Bridge to Prague," promoting the city's appeal as a historical, cultural and business destination and the many celebrations on tap for next year's 660th anniversary of the Charles Bridge, one of city's most famous monuments.
