For travellers brave enough to put their phone away for a while, the opportunity to master the secret of Finnish relaxation on a complimentary seven-day trip to the world’s happiest country awaits.

Named the world’s happiest country for the ninth year running, Finland is inviting travellers to log off and “Chill Like a Finn”.

With the United Nations’ World Happiness Report 2026 highlighting the negative impact of social media use on wellbeing, Visit Finland’s message is clear: “Happiness starts with switching off, preferably somewhere by a lake and far away from notifications.”

Visit Finland is now accepting applications for the “Chill Like a Finn” challenge, which will reward selected participants and a plus-one with a seven-day summer stay in the Finnish Lakeland.

One of Europe’s largest lake regions, Finland’s Lakeland is known for its thousands of lakes, vast forests and peaceful cottage life.

Rather than a packed itinerary, the experience focuses on mastering the essentials of Finnish relaxation. According to Visit Finland, visitors can expect lakeside cottage living, traditional saunas, lake swims, time in forests and nature, seasonal food, good company – “and, perhaps most importantly, putting the phone away for a while”.

To apply, travellers may visit the campaign website and submit an entry explaining why they could benefit from a proper summer reset. Applications close on 29 March 2026.
