Langkawi has long been one of Malaysia’s most beloved island escapes. With its blend of idyllic beaches, lush mountain ranges, tropical flora and fauna, and mouthwatering local cuisine, the island continues to charm both local and international travellers. Beyond its scenic appeal, Langkawi’s accommodation scene is evolving, with new players joining well-loved icons that continue to reinvent themselves.
A Hilton on the horizon
Set to open in March 2026, the Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort is already making waves as Hilton’s first resort on the island. General manager Orsolya Meszaros shared that the thoughtfully designed 251-room property will feature inter-connecting rooms and spacious one-bedroom suites, ideal for multi-generational family getaways.

Nestled along Langkawi’s western shoreline, Burau Bay is known for its pristine rainforest, abundant wildlife and a 600m stretch of white sandy beach. Guests can look forward to four restaurants and bars, including Gingerfire, an all-day dining venue, and two speciality outlets offering Italian and Yunnan Chinese cuisine.
For culinary enthusiasts, a 12-seater masterclass pavilion will host curated sessions spotlighting Langkawi’s local flavours and international dishes. The resort’s spa village and tea relaxation pavilion promise tranquil moments, while active travellers can enjoy a jungle rock pool, fitness centre, and basketball and tennis courts within the expansive 10 hectare estate.
The grand dame gets a glow-up
A long-time favourite on Pantai Cenang, Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa has refreshed its legacy through a major makeover. Over its 36-year history, the resort has maintained its distinctive wooden façade, now complemented by brighter, more modern interiors.

Spanning 14 hectares, the resort has revamped all 355 guest rooms, the main lobby, spa, kids’ club, convention spaces, and two swimming pools. Resort manager Neoh Kean Boon said the improvements aim to “set a brighter and more modern atmosphere” while boosting MICE and team-building programmes.
Food lovers will also find new reasons to return. The resort’s Spice Market all-day dining venue and Pelangi Beachside Grill, now offering a Latin-inspired menu, are drawing both guests and locals for memorable dining by the sea.

Its standard and private pool rooms are reminiscent of hobbit-style dwellings from The Lord of the Rings, yet surprisingly spacious inside. Each comes with a plush king-sized bed, modern fittings, and warm lighting.
While the on-site café keeps things simple, guests can easily explore nearby local eateries. Popular attractions such as Pantai Cenang and Underwater World are less than a 10-minute drive away, offering the best of both worlds – seclusion and convenience.
