“Tourism is not only an economic driver; it is a lifeline,” affirmed Christina Garcia Frasco, Secretary of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Philippines at an Independent Travel Agencies and Tour Operators Association (ITATOA) event on 8 December.
ITATOA was established in 2018 and comprises 130 regular members and 15 international allied members.
Speaking at the B2B event, Frasco emphasised the role of travel agencies and operators, as one which “supports livelihoods, strengthens communities, and carries the message that the Philippines is welcoming, resilient, and full of promise”.
“Travel agencies and tour operators do more than process bookings—they guide choices, ensure safety and convenience, and craft experiences that leave lasting memories. In doing so, you stand as frontliners of our hospitality and as ambassadors of our culture and identity.
Attendees came dressed to match the event’s theme, “Royals: Celebrating Excellence Through Unity and Innovation”, which Frasco also mentioned were two pillars essential to sustainable growth for the tourism sector.
