Thailand has launched the “Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025,” a year-long initiative aimed at attracting 39 million international visitors and generating 3 trillion Baht (US$90 billion) in tourism revenue. The campaign will feature festivals, sporting events, and travel incentives to strengthen Thailand’s position as a tourism and sports hub.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said: “Tourism is a key driver of Thailand’s economy, and as we embrace the digital era, we must continue to grow by enhancing infrastructure, expanding world-class events, and creating innovative experiences that attract and inspire visitors.”
The initiative aligns with the government’s IGNITE THAILAND’S TOURISM vision, focusing on improving accessibility and infrastructure. Measures include increasing flight capacity, implementing an online TM6 immigration system, and enhancing transportation networks. Minister of Tourism and Sports Mr. Sorawong Thienthong stated: “We are integrating efforts across public and private sectors to enhance travel convenience and elevate visitor experiences.”
The campaign is structured around five pillars:
Grand Festivity – Major cultural, music, and sports events, including MotoGP, the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok, and the Wonderfruit Festival.
Grand Moment – Unique natural attractions such as the pink sea of mist at Doi Inthanon and bioluminescent plankton in Chumphon.
Grand Privilege – Seasonal travel promotions catering to various market segments.
Grand Invitation – Hosting global figures and sports icons at key events.
Grand Celebration – Commemorating milestones such as the 50th anniversary of Thailand-China diplomatic relations.
The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will play a key role in sports tourism, with major events including the 33rd SEA Games (9–20 December) and the 13th ASEAN Para Games (January 2026).
Thailand will also host international competitions such as the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2025, the Honda LPGA Thailand, and the Jet Ski World Series.
