JTB Corp. has stepped in to help the development of the tourist hotspot of Lake Kawaguchiko.
Lake Kawaguchiko, in Yamanashi Prefecture, has a stunning view of
Mount Fuji, and has become a popular tourist destination for visitors to
Japan.
To cope with the crowds, JTB Corp has opened a travel centre -
Tourist Base Kawaguchiko - in Fujikawaguchiko Town, that houses a cafe
looking out to a view of Mount Fuji. Visitors can enjoy unlimited
complimentary food and beverages at the café, where a system allows free
offerings with charges based on the duration of their stay.
Along with a selection of local souvenirs from Yamanashi, the centre
sells optional tours with Lake Kawaguchiko as a starting point, and
rents various mobility options, including electric scooters.
The centre also offers the experience of dressing in a kimono or samurai armour.
Additionally, on the rooftop of the Tourist Base Kawaguchiko,
visitors can capture memorable photographs with Mount Fuji in the
foreground.
In a statement JTB said it will contribute to the resolution of
regional issues and the creation of new values in the region by
generating more foot traffic, “thus contributing to sustainable
community development”.
