Sands China has embarked on a partnership with CCTV.com in which the Chinese national news site and the integrated resort owner in Macao will co-organise a range of online and offline activities.

These activities will cover cultural tourism, sports industry, education and research, art and culture, and cultural branding.

In a statement, the pair said the collaboration aims to build a strong media network with “one network + two destinations + multiple platforms” and foster the development of Macao’s industrial synergy.

A series of cross-sector initiatives will include the promotion of Chinese traditional culture and classic works of art to both Chinese and overseas audiences and facilitate Macao to become a “City of Performing Arts”.

The two parties will also cooperate in activities such as sports events, virtual sports and esports competitions to promote Macao’s positioning as a “City of Sports”.

Other initiatives include a study project, which aims to enhance young people’s understanding and appreciation of Chinese art and culture.

New and existing cultural brands related to stage plays, variety shows, films, TV dramas and online audio-visual content will be jointly developed through events, tours, exhibitions and festivals.

“The mutual goal is to establish the cultural identity as well as promote the sense of local culture in Macao,” the partners said.

In future, the two parties will collaborate to showcase the charm of Macao’s “tourism +” cross-sector integration in Greater China and overseas markets and contribute to Macao's profile as a “World Centre of Tourism and Leisure”.
