Lanson Place Parliament Gardens has officially opened its doors in Melbourne following an A$80 million (US$52 million) transformation of the historic 1901 Salvation Army Printing Works. The grand opening, held on 26 November, was marked by the launch of a donation initiative to support The Salvation Army.
During the event, The Salvation Army symbolically handed over the original building plaque to Lanson Place, signifying the transition of the building's stewardship. In honour of the building's legacy, Lanson Place introduced the "Rounding Up for the Salvos" donation drive. This initiative invites guests to round up their bills, with the additional amount going directly to The Salvation Army’s community programmes.
Marcus Packham, General Manager of Lanson Place Parliament Gardens, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative: “Our ‘Rounding Up for the Salvos’ initiative is an important and meaningful way for us to support The Salvation Army’s incredible work. This partnership celebrates the history of our new home while giving back to those in need, so we invite our guests to join us in making a difference within our community.”
The hotel features 137 rooms, a 20-metre indoor heated swimming pool and spa, and the Chronicle 502 Bar & Dining. Guests can participate in the donation drive throughout their stay, knowing that each rounded-up dollar contributes to The Salvation Army’s mission to assist vulnerable Australians.
