Thailand has announced that the TM6 immigration form will be made digital, replacing the paper version for all foreign arrivals to Thailand starting 1 May 2025. This online form is expected to enhance the tracking of tourists and improve safety perceptions, according to Thai authorities.

A temporary suspension of the TM6 form was implemented on 15 April 2024, by the cabinet, and will end on 30 April 2025. The digital version is designed to help streamline the entry process and address safety concerns, as the country works to combat negative perceptions.

Thai authorities confirmed that the digital TM6 form will be compulsory for all foreign arrivals by air, land, and sea. The system is free and will be prioritised over other entry screening measures initially planned. The government will hold a meeting on January 31 with key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, airlines, and tour agencies, to discuss the process and raise awareness.

While the digital form is set to be implemented in May, the government is postponing the 300-baht tourism fee this year. A source from the ministry, who requested anonymity, stated that the delay may be due to concerns over the smooth operation of the TM6 system and ongoing issues with illicit networks using Thailand as a transit hub. The government aims to ensure the TM6 process runs efficiently before introducing additional pre-screening measures.

In addition to the digital TM6 form, tourists will be required to apply for Thailand’s electronic visa (e-visa) system from 1 January 2025, except for passport holders from visa-exempt countries. Click here to see the list of nationalities not required to apply for an e-visa.
