Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS), a key player in the Asian cruise industry, has once again proven its standing by winning the Best Cruise Terminal category at the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards.
Located in the heart of Singapore’s vibrant Marina Bay district, MBCCS has become a vital hub for international and regional cruise operations, handling millions of passengers annually.
Since its inception in 2012, MBCCS has evolved to meet the growing demands of the cruise sector. The terminal, which originally catered to 6,800 passengers, now processes over 2 million passengers, with 300 ship calls in 2023 alone.
This remarkable growth is attributed to strategic infrastructure upgrades, including the introduction of the New Clearance Concept (NCC), which has transitioned the terminal from manual to automated processing, enhancing passenger flow and operational efficiency.
In an interview with Travel Weekly Asia, Lionel Wong, CEO of Sats-Creuers Cruise Services, discussed how MBCCS is positioning itself for the future: "Our growth is a result of continuous investments in both infrastructure and technology to support increasing passenger traffic. As we look ahead, we are focused on sustainability and delivering a green cruise experience."
MBCCS has already earned a GoldPLUS Green Award under Singapore’s Green Mark Building certification. Its eco-friendly initiatives, such as the installation of Big Ass Fans to reduce air-conditioning reliance and lower carbon emissions, further highlight its commitment to sustainability. The terminal is exploring additional renewable energy options to further support its green goals.
