Silversea Cruises' second Nova-class ship, Silver Ray, recently celebrated its float out on 25 February at Meyer Werft, Germany.

The 728-guest ship is now in its final stages, set to debut in the Mediterranean in June, marking the sixth addition to Silversea's fleet in three years.

After a meticulous cleaning process, Silver Ray was floated out at the Meyer Werft shipyard, moving from the construction hall to the harbour basin. The vessel is scheduled for sea trials after a 32-km journey down the Ems River.

Captain Alessandro Zanello, master of Silver Ray, followed shipbuilding traditions by welding a commemorative coin to a wall on the pool deck for good luck.

“With the float out of Silver Ray, excitement is building for the launch of the second ship in our pioneering Nova-class,” said Barbara Muckermann, president of Silversea, stating that the positive response to its sister ship, the Silver Nova, had earlier fueled enthusiasm for the Nova-class among guests, travel advisors, and the press since its August 2023 debut.

Silversea's Nova-class ships prioritise energy efficiency and luxury, with 40% greater energy efficiency than international standards. Onboard, guests experience luxury with new venues, suites, Otium wellness, and S.A.L.T. culinary enrichments, featuring the S.A.L.T. Chef’s Table.

The ships boast innovative design elements, with around 4,000sqm of exterior glass, enhancing the connection with the destination.
