Resorts World Cruises has announced that its ship, Genting Dream, will use Melaka as the gateway to Kuala Lumpur for its 2 Night Cruises departing from Singapore on Sundays, starting 10 November 2024. The cruise line will offer 52 calls annually, potentially bringing up to 200,000 passengers to Melaka each year.

The Genting Dream will anchor near Melaka city, with passengers disembarking via tender boats to the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex. From there, visitors can access Melaka's UNESCO World Heritage Site and other attractions.

Michael Goh, president of Resorts World Cruises, stated: "Resorts World Cruises is delighted to add Melaka as one of our latest destinations and homeports, which will further contribute towards the success of the state's 'Visit Melaka 2024' campaign and the development of the cruise tourism sector in Melaka."

"The Melaka state government is pleased to welcome the collaboration with Resorts World Cruises through its cruise ship, Genting Dream, which has chosen Melaka as its new destination,” said Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, the Chief Minister of Melaka. “With an average of 200,000 passengers per year, this will contribute to the increase in tourist numbers during Visit Melaka 2024, thus boosting the economic growth of Melaka."

The cruise will feature an extended port stay of 12 hours, allowing passengers to explore both Melaka and Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, travellers will have the option to embark from Melaka every fortnight on Mondays for a One-Way 3 Night Melaka-Singapore-Penang-Kuala Lumpur (via Port Klang) Cruise.

The Genting Dream offers various inclusions in its cruise fare, including dining options, entertainment, and recreational activities. As the World's First OIC/SMIIC Standard Halal-Friendly Cruise Ship, it provides certified Halal food and prayer rooms for Muslim guests.
