Major changes are underway for Oceania Nautica, which will undergo a major transformation before re-emerging as Oceania Aurelia in late 2027.

The revamp will reposition the ship as a more exclusive, suite-heavy vessel, with fewer but significantly larger accommodations and several new suite categories.

Delivered in 2005, Nautica currently offers 349 suites and staterooms for 670 guests. Following an extensive drydock, Aurelia will feature just 238 accommodations, while the number of suites will nearly triple – from 62 to 179.

Among these are the remastered Owner’s, Vista and Penthouse Suites, plus new additions: Oceania Suites, Horizon Suites as well as a selection of Oceanview and Inside Suites.

Most suites will exceed 91sqm, with select suites reaching up to 304sqm. Many also offering living and dining spaces.

Staff-to-guest ration will be nearly on par, since guest count will be under 500 – served by 400 officers and crew.

Nautica’s coffee shop Baristas will be relocated to the Horizons lounge area. Oceania's Bakery and the Crêperie will be added, alongside the Founders Bar, a specialty cocktail bar on the Allura-class ships.

Oceania Aurelia will sail the line’s 2028 and 2029 Around the World voyages as well as a series of expansive grand voyages.

Jason Montague, chief luxury officer of Oceania Cruises says the ship “will be a smaller, more club-like ship that truly feels like a home at sea, providing travelers a deeper connection to the ports they visit”.

The project is part of the cruise line's OceaniaNext programme to update the onboard experience.
