During 2016 the facility racked up impressive statistics, including doubling the number of cruise lines it welcomed, from nine in 2015 to 18 last year. Of the total ship calls of 95, more than 70% were turnarounds, leading to more then 370,000 passengers using the facility over 120 ship-days.
Since the opening of Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, operated by Worldwide Cruise Terminals (WCT), the facility has seen more than 730,000 cruise traveller visits, cementing its growing success at the centre of Asia’s cruising boom.
During 2016 the facility racked up impressive statistics, including doubling the number of cruise lines it welcomed, from nine in 2015 to 18 last year. Of the total ship calls of 95, more than 70% were turnarounds, leading to more then 370,000 passengers using the facility over 120 ship-days.
The terminal was nominated as one of three finalists for the “Seatrade Cruise Awards 2016 Port of the Year Award”, making it the first of any Asian terminal to be recognised.
The facility collected numerous awards for environmental stewardship and corporate social responsibility, which recognised the facility’s work in issues such as energy saving, reducing food waste and waste reduction in general, improving air quality.
Looking ahead to this year, bookings for ship calls are already double that of 2016.
