Oriental Land Co. (OLC) has revealed Disney Imagination as the name of the first Disney cruise ship to sail from Japan, with departures from Tokyo scheduled to begin in spring 2029.
First announced in 2024, the ship will launch Disney Cruise Line Japan, a Disney-branded cruise business operated by OLC, which also owns and operates Tokyo Disney Resort under licence from Disney.

Natacha Rafalski, president of Disney Signature Experiences, said the naming marked a milestone in Disney Cruise Line’s expansion and its long-standing relationship with Oriental Land Group.
“We are honoured to extend the magic of Disney cruising to fans in new markets and create opportunities for Japanese guests to experience a Disney vacation at sea,” she said.
The announcement also unveiled the ship’s signature stern artwork, featuring Ariel and Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. The design continues Disney Cruise Line’s tradition of using characters to reflect each ship’s identity, with Ariel’s curiosity, creativity and adventurous spirit embodying the new ship’s theme.
