Short getaways are on the rise, with travellers increasingly opting for micro-trips – compact journeys that require minimal planning and fit easily into busy schedules.

According to booking data from Agoda for the first five months of 2025, the top five cities in Asia for one-night stays are:

  1. Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

  2. Seoul (South Korea)

  3. Taipei (Taiwan)

  4. Manila (Philippines)

  5. Pattaya (Thailand)

In Thailand, Chonburi, Hua Hin, Rayong, and Khao Yai join Pattaya as popular micro-trip destinations, all within a few hours’ drive from Bangkok. These spots offer a variety of quick escapes, from beach breaks and seafood stops to cool mountain air and nature retreats.

“Micro-travel is emerging as the perfect solution for today’s busy and spontaneous travellers,” said Akaporn Rodkong, country director at Agoda. “Whether it’s a quick beach retreat or a vibrant city escape, these short getaways deliver big adventures and lasting memories.”
